water colors

October 17, 2006

The water at this house is strange. The hot water is clear but the cold water is reddish brown. Obviously the hot water goes through the hot water heater, which apparently also filters out any sediment. The cold water is not so lucky. So when I run a bath for the baby, and use both cold and hot water, the water can get rather dirty (well, technically it isn’t dirty, just discolored). I am tired of bathing my blond-headed baby boy in dingy water. So tonight I’m trying something new. I ran just a hot bath. and I’m letting it cool off. The water is relatively clear. Maybe, if I can remember to run the bath early enough for it to cool off, we can have less colored water in the bathtub, making both the children’s hair and the bathtub itself cleaner looking.

season change

October 17, 2006

I switched out the children’s clothing today. Which is always a bigger undertaking than I think it will be. There is the taking off of tags and putting away of clothes, of keeping clothes that still fit (in case we have a warm spell) in a section of the bottom drawer, of figuring out what we have too many of or what we need (K needs an extra sweat suit and a pair of jeans that aren’t worn out and E needs some long pants that fit). K is right at the end of being a 4T, so she isn’t really a 5 or 5T in some brands of clothes. E is easily an 18 month top but he really has my short legs and isn’t long enough for 18 month old pants. particularly long pants. He really needs 18 month size pants around the waist and 12 month size pants in length. oh well. He’ll either have them tight or rolled up.

apples

The children are enjoying an apple. K takes a bite and then holds it for E to bite. It is wonderful and adorable to see them sharing something so simple and so healthy.
