Barack Obama has two small children and is running for President. He is not able to spend nearly the time with his girls that he would if he were not running for President. If a woman his age, at his lifestage, were running for President, all we would hear would be, “How was she being a mother of two children and running a national campaign?” Why isn’t that part of the conversation now? If Hillary Clinton (instead of Bill) had run for President back in 1992, the media onslaught of her abandoning her child would have been relentless. Why are we not concerned that Obama is not being enough of a dad? For that matter, John McCain still has at least one child at home, too. Why isn’t the fatherhood of these men being questioned? It is inherently sexist to assume that men’s time is more valuable outside the home than inside it.

May 6, 2008I signed up to hand out flyers for Hampton at my polling place tomorrow. I’m a dork, I know. But I’m so excited about him running for Lt. Gov., and I really hope he wins!

April 17, 2008Please consider voting for Hampton Dellinger.
I know Hamp. and Jolynn. Good people. If anybody I know personally would make a good President some day, it’d be Hamp. But for now, he’s running for Lt. Gov. of North Carolina. Vote for Hamp!
